Excerpt from Episode 144: "Through the Looking Glass"

In Elizabeth Peacock-Canary’s suite, Gavin Gold lies in bed with Elizabeth in his arms. On a coffee table are empty bottles of scotch. “Are you alright?” Elizabeth asks.

“Yeah, why?” Gavin asks.

“I just don’t want this to get awkward.” She says.

“Awkward? What could be awkward about us sleeping together? I mean, I’ve known you since I was fourteen years old.” Gavin says. “I mean, I’ve fantasized about being with you.”

“You’ve had fantasies about me?” She asks. “What kind of fantasies?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He smiles. Just then his cell phone rings.

“Let it go to voicemail.” Elizabeth says.

“It might be about Jessie.” Gavin says. He leans up and reaches for his phone. “Hello?” He answers.

“Mr. Gold.” Detective Shauna Garnet says. “This is Detective Garnet.”

“Yes Detective.” Gavin says, sitting up.

“Mr. Gold, we picked up a young woman who was wandering the streets. She matches the description of Jessica Sumac.”

“I will be right there.” Gavin says.
