Previously: Six days before the lifeless body of a woman is discovered in the California home of the Winters Family, twelve-year-old Tyler Winters found his mother crying outside of his bedroom door. Concerned, Tyler asked Kendal Winters if everything was alright and she reassured him that everything was fine. However, once Tyler was in his bedroom, he quickly realized that everything was not fine and that a bag of cocaine that was lying on his bed had gone missing. Tyler immediately assumed that Kendal was crying because she had found the drugs. At the same time, outside the gates of the family’s estate, Tyler’s sister, Taylor Winters and her boyfriend Randy Dove were dreading saying goodbye to each other after having spent the day together. As Taylor headed inside the house, Randy saw Taylor’s father’s car coming up the street and sped off, but not before Taylor’s father, Reynard saw him. In the kitchen, Taylor greeted her father who angrily accused Taylor of disobeying his orders that she stay away from Randy. After a heated argument, Taylor stormed upstairs to her room. Amanda Winters, Taylor’s sister-in-law then joined Reynard in the kitchen. When Amanda tried to lend an uncharacteristic sympathetic ear, Reynard told her that he was not having a conversation about his family with her. When Amanda alluded to the fact that she could “help” by getting Kendal involved, Reynard reminded Amanda that she had blackmailed her way into the family. After Amanda left him alone, Reynard sadly reflected back onto the day that his family began to fall apart. Reynard recalled that in 1991, Kendal and her friend Helena Dove were in a horrific car accident. Both of the women were almost nine months pregnant at the time and the accident took the life of Kendal and Reynard’s unborn daughter. Sadly, Helena also died from her injuries, but her infant daughter survived. When Reynard realized he had to tell Kendal that they had lost their child, he confided to his friend, Dr. Richard Dove, that he didn’t think that Kendal could handle the news of the child’s death. Reynard feared that he would lose his wife. Richard then devised a plan to try and save Kendal’s fragile mental state. Richard told Reynard that he would be willing to pass his and Helena’s living newborn daughter off as Kendal and Reynard’s daughter. Reynard, consumed with grief, could not believe his friend would suggest such a plan, but when Kendal asked about the condition of their daughter, Reynard lied and said that the baby girl was healthy. Now, seventeen years later, Reynard was beginning to realize what a horrible decision that was, especially since the boy that his daughter was romantically involved with is actually her older brother. In her bedroom, Taylor tearfully spoke with Randy on the phone and told him that she was going to continue seeing him against her father’s wishes. Taylor, thinking that Randy’s father, Richard could persuade Reynard to change his mind, asked Randy to talk to him. Randy agreed, not realizing his father was in the room. When Richard asked Randy what it was that he wanted to talk to him about, Randy told him that he could handle it. When Randy went to his room, Richard called Reynard and told him that they have a problem. Meanwhile, Amanda Winters read a yellowing piece of paper: a letter her mother had written to Reynard Winters. In the letter, Amanda’s mother wrote that she had been a nurse at the hospital where Taylor was born and that she was well aware of the plan Reynard and Richard had concocted to pass her off the Winters’ child and that she wanted money for her silence. But Amanda’s mother passed away before she could cash in on her blackmail scheme. Amanda however, followed closely in her mother’s devious footsteps and blackmailed her way into the bed of Reynard’s oldest son, Jason. When Jason came in the room and almost found Amanda with the incrementing letter, Amanda lied to him and said she was looking for her engagement ring. When a confused Jason commented that Amanda had always hated the ring, Amanda slipped the letter back into the drawer, grabbed the engagement ring and slipped it onto her finger and told him she never said she hated it and that it still fit her just as well as it did the day he proposed to her. While searching Hollywood for the missing Vivienne Scarlet, Kevin Kale met a prostitute named Ginger. Kevin showed Ginger a photo of Vivienne and Ginger realized she had seen Vivienne before. Ginger told Kevin that Vivienne was almost hit by a car and that she had gotten into the car and left with the driver. Kevin then noticed that most of the nearby storefronts had security cameras pointing at the street and realized that one of the cameras may have recorded Vivienne’s near-fatal accident, thus capturing the car’s license plate number. In order to thank Ginger for her help, Kevin offered to buy her a hot meal, so the two headed to a local diner.
“Boulevard of Broken Dreams” Part 2
FRIDAY, 7:33 PM PST
In the dimly lit library of the home of the Winters Family, a crib is set up in one corner of the room. The crib, however, is empty. Across the room, in a stone fireplace, the fire has almost burnt completely out. On an area rug in front of the fireplace lies the lifeless body of woman. Clutched in the woman’s hand, is a small plastic bag that contains a fine white powder. On the floor next to the body are a metal fire poker and a white Phantom of the Opera-style half-mask...
FLASHBACK: SIX DAYS AGO, 8:01 PM PST
Prince "Blanket" Onceblack and Elizabeth Peacock-Canary are driving down Hollywood Boulevard. “I guess there isn’t much more we can do tonight.” Elizabeth says.
“Did you want to go grab a bite to eat?” “Blanket” asks her.
“I am really tired, so I’d like to just go back to my hotel room if that is alright with you.” She says.
“Of course.” “Blanket” says. He turns off of Hollywood Blvd. just as Kevin Kale and Ginger drive by, going in the opposite direction.
“I knew I had seen you before.” Ginger says to Kevin.
“Yeah.” Kevin shrugs. “I guess it wasn’t the best idea for me to be looking for Vivienne…”
“Especially in this neighborhood.” Ginger says.
“That’s not what I meant.” Kevin says.
“Hey, it’s alright.” Ginger smiles. “I know that your type of people and my type of people don’t go to the same parties.” She says.
“Oh, don’t be so sure.” Kevin smiles. Ginger laughs. She begins to play with a hole that is in her stocking. Kevin looks at her hands and sees that they are filthy. He then sees that her knee is badly cut and is bleeding. “We should probably get you to the emergency room. That looks like a pretty nasty cut.” Kevin says.
“You’re kidding right?” Ginger asks.
“No, not at all.” Kevin says.
“You can let me out right up there.” Ginger says.
“What?” Kevin asks.
“I don’t think you get it.” Ginger says.
“Get what?” Kevin asks.
“If I showed up at the ER, I can tell you the first thing they would do, and it ain’t fixing up my busted knee.” Ginger says.
“They would call the cops.” Kevin says.
“Ya think?” Ginger asks sarcastically. “Look, I appreciate you trying to help me out, but I am fine.”
“Will you at least let me get the money I promised you?” He asks.
“You twisted my arm, Mr. Movie Star.” She smiles. Kevin opens his wallet to get his ATM card.
“Damn it.” He says. “I left my bank card at home.”
“You know what, it’s alright.” Ginger says. “You can just drop me off anywhere.”
“No, I am going to get you that money. Vivienne could be found by this time tomorrow. You helped me a lot tonight.” Kevin says.
“And you returned the favor by pulling that creep off of me.” She says.
“Yeah, well I would feel better if you just let me get you some cash.” Kevin says. “My apartment isn’t too far from here.” He turns onto Melrose Ave.
“Whatever.” Ginger sighs, just as Kevin’s cell phone rings.
“Oh great.” He says, seeing that it is “Blanket” calling him.
“Who’s that, your girlfriend?” Ginger asks.
“Ha, yeah, something like that.” Kevin says. “Hey babe!” He says as he answers the phone. “Actually, I am on my way to the apartment. I had to pick up some clothes and check the mail.” He lies to “Blanket”. “No, I haven’t heard from the police. Alright, babe, I will see you in an hour or so.” Kevin hangs up. He looks over at Ginger and smiles nervously.
“Babe, huh?” Ginger asks. “That sounded an awful lot like a guy on the other end of that phone.” She says. Kevin laughs nervously. “Besides, I have pretty good gaydar.” She winks at him.
“No, it’s not like that.” Kevin shifts in his seat.
“Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me. In fact, if it makes you feel better, I have a secret too.” Ginger says.
“You do?” Kevin asks.
“Yeah, Ginger isn’t my real name!” She smiles.
“Oh.” Kevin says, “That’s not much of a secret. So, what’s your real name?”
“Gregory.” She says, matter-of-factly. Kevin’s mouth drops open. “Close your mouth, honey,” Ginger says.
“Wow.” Kevin says. “I would have never known.”
“I know. I like it that way.” She says. “It’s not something we talk about in my line of work.” Kevin stops his car in front of an apartment complex.
“We should get your knee cleaned and bandaged up.” Kevin says, as he turns off the engine. “Does it hurt?”
“Not too bad.” Ginger says. She opens the car door and gets out.
In his office at the hospital, Dr. Richard Dove is working on a patient’s file when there is a knock on the door. “It’s open.” Dove says, glancing at a clock. “Eight-twenty.” He sighs. The office door opens and Reynard Winters sticks his head in.
“Am I interrupting?” Reynard asks.
“No, I welcome a break.” Richard says. “Come on in.” Reynard enters the office and closes the door. He takes a seat in a chair directly across from Richard’s desk. Richard takes off his glasses to give his eyes a rest.
“Did you get anything out of Randal?” Reynard asks.
“No.” Richard says.
“We have to keep them apart, Richard.” Reynard says. “If Taylor and Randy take their relationship to the next level…”
“I think we’re a little late for that, Rey.” Richard says. Reynard’s stomach turns.
“She is going to hate me when the truth comes out.” Reynard says.
“I’ve been thinking about that,” Richard says. “And I have a plan.”
Meanwhile, Melissa Mustard is on a plane bound for California. A flight attendant comes over to her. “Ma’am.” The flight attendant says. “We will be landing soon, please put your seat in the up-right position.” Melissa smiles and adjusts her seat. She looks out the window of the plane and sees Los Angeles spread out below her. Melissa leans her head back on the seat and sighs.
In L.A., “Blanket” has just dropped Elizabeth off at her hotel and is driving back to his penthouse when his cell phone rings.
“Onceblack.” He answers.
“Mr. Onceblack.” Jeffery Tan says.
“Jeffery?” Onceblack says, surprised to hear his assistant’s voice.
“I-I-I was just calling to make sure you got the envelope I dropped off at your place this morning.” He says, nervously.
“What envelope?” Onceblack asks.
“Well, the important papers you were expecting came to the office this morning so I dropped them off at the penthouse. I left them with Mr. Kale.” Jeffery says.
“You what?” Onceblack asks.
“I left the envelope with Mr. Kale. I hope that was ok.” Jeffery says.
“No, it is fine, Jeffery.” “Blanket” says. “Thanks.” He hangs up quickly. “Damn it.” He says, stepping on the gas. “Blanket’s” sports car speeds down the street.
“This is a nice place.” Ginger says as she looks around Kevin’s modest Hollywood apartment.
“Thanks.” He says. “I am going to get my bank card. The bathroom is the first door on the left.” He goes to the kitchen while Ginger goes down the hall to the bathroom. She stops to look at some framed photos that are on the wall. “Do you really know Brad and Angelina?” She yells to Kevin.
“We met at a party once.” Kevin yells to her. Ginger smiles and turns to enter the bathroom. She flips on a light switch and looks at herself in the mirror.
“Brad Pitt would turn and run the other way if he saw you.” She says to her reflection. She then notices a large Jacuzzi bathtub.
“Hmmm.” She says as she steps out of her high heels.
Meanwhile, “Blanket” has made it back to his penthouse and quickly unlocks the door. “Kevin.” He says as he enters the dark living room. He flips on a lamp and puts his keys on a table by the door. “Kevin, are you here?” He calls out. He goes over to a desk and immediately notices the empty envelope and letter opener. The voice of Elizabeth Peacock-Canary immediately fills his head.
“Kevin just phoned me and said he was on his way over. He sounded upset and he told me to stay here at the hotel.” Elizabeth says.
“He knows.” “Blanket” says, slamming his fist down on the table. He quickly crosses the room, grabs his keys from the table and hurries out the door.
At LAX, Melissa Mustard stands on the curb waiting on a taxi. A car quickly pulls up to the curb and the driver jumps out and hurries to get Melissa’s bags. “Thank you.” She says, as she climbs into the back of car. The driver quickly puts her luggage into the trunk and gets back in the car.
“Where to?” He asks.
“Los Angeles County Hospital.” Melissa says.
At Kevin’s apartment, Ginger has made herself a bath and is lying back with her eyes closed. “Did you find everything…” Kevin says as he comes into the bathroom. “Oh.” He says when he sees that Ginger is in the bathtub.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I was filthy.” She says, sitting up and covering herself with a wash cloth.
“No, no, it’s fine.” Kevin says, sheepishly. “I will be out in the living room.” He says, as he backs out of the bathroom. He closes the door behind him. Ginger giggles. She sees an iPod on the edge of the tub and reaches over to get it. Putting the earbuds into her ears, she turns the iPod on and lies back. In the living room, Kevin walks over to the couch and sits down. Grabbing a remote control, he flips on the television, unaware that “Blanket” has just pulled up outside the apartment complex.
At the Winters’ house, Taylor slowly descends the staircase, while Kendal, Tyler and Jason Winters sit at the dining room table, eating a quiet dinner. “Amanda isn’t joining us?” Kendal asks Jason.
“No, she had something she had to do.” Jason says. Taylor enters the dining room.
“Can I get you a plate, Taylor?” Kendal asks.
“No thanks, mom.” Taylor says.
“You have to eat, darling.” Kendal says. “Let me fix you a little something.” Kendal gets up from the table and goes to the kitchen. Taylor plops down in a chair next to Tyler.
“What’s wrong with you?” Tyler asks. Taylor gives him a dirty look. Kendal comes back in and sits a plate of food in front of Taylor.
“Thanks.” Taylor says. She begins to pick at the food with a fork. “So where’s Dad?”
“He had something to do at the hospital.” Kendal says, rejoining her children.
“And Amanda?” Taylor asks Jason.
“Look, she’s not here. Alright?” Jason snaps.
“Jason.” Kendal says.
“I’m sorry mom.” Jason stands up.
“Where are you going?” Kendal asks.
“To check on J.R.” Jason says. He leaves the room.
“What is happening to this family?” Kendal says. Tyler picks up his glass of milk and begins to drink it quickly, still thinking his mother knows about the drugs he was selling to kids at school.
“Maybe you should ask Dad.” Taylor says.
Back in Dr. Dove’s office, Reynard sits silently, staring at his friend. “Say something.” Richard says.
“I, I, I, don’t know how you come up with these ridiculous plans.” Reynard says.
“It’s not ridiculous.” Richard says.
“Taylor will never agree to move to New Hampshire to live with Kendal’s brother and his family.” Reynard says.
“She is seventeen, Reynard.” Richard says. “She won’t have to agree to it, she will just have to do it.”
“Kendal will never go along with sending our daughter away.” Reynard says.
“She will if we tell her that Randy and Taylor are siblings.” Richard says. Reynard can’t believe his ears.
“We can’t tell her that!” Reynard shouts. He stands up.
“I know it is difficult Reynard, but what other choice do we have?” Richard says. “We can’t let Randy and Taylor’s relationship go on this way.”
“Don’t you think I know that?” Reynard shouts. He walks over to the door of the office.
“Just think about it.” Richard says. “With Taylor in New Hampshire, it not only eliminates the relationship with Randy…”
“It will also break Amanda’s hold over us.” Reynard adds.
“Exactly.” Richard says. “So telling Kendal is the next logical step. Amanda won’t have anything left to blackmail us with and our lives will finally get back to normal. There is no other option.”
“Unless…” Reynard says. He opens the door of the office and exits.
“Unless?” Richard calls after him. “Unless, what?” Richard says as the door of his office closes. Richard sits back in his chair and takes a deep breath.
Out in the hallway, Melissa steps out of the elevator and passes Reynard. “Mr. Winters.” She says to him. Reynard stops.
“Dr. Mustard?” He says to her.
“Hello.” Melissa smiles.
“I didn’t know you were back in town.” Reynard says.
“Actually, I’ve just arrived.” She says.
“And I see you’ve had the baby.” Reynard says. “A boy or a girl?”
“A little boy.” Melissa says proudly.
“Congratulations.” Reynard says. “Jason’s wife gave birth to a little boy, too.”
“Really. That’s great.” Melissa says.
“In fact, the christening is on Friday.” He tells her. “You should come. I am sure Jason would love to see you and the baby.”
“Oh, well, I don’t know. I have a lot of things to take care of.” Melissa says. “But thank you.”
“Well, the invitation stands, so if you find the time we would love to have you.” Reynard says, putting his hand on her arm. “It’s great to see you, doctor.”
“You too, Mr. Winters.” She says. Reynard leaves and Melissa walks down the hall to Dr. Dove’s office. She knocks on the door.
“Yeah.” Dr. Dove calls from inside. Melissa opens the door and enters.
“Hello Richard.” She says.
“Melissa?” Dove asks. He springs to his feet and hurries to greet her. “What are you doing here?”
“Actually, Richard, I need your help.” Melissa says.
“Come in.” Richard says, walking her over to a chair. “How are you? How is the baby? Melissa sits down.
“Actually, Richard, I don’t know.” Melissa says.
“You don’t know?” Richard questions her.
“My baby was kidnapped.” Melissa tells him.
“Oh, no. Melissa, I am so sorry. What happened?” He asks.
“It’s a long story, but what it boils down to is that Ryder had a hand in the kidnapping and I need your help in finding him.” Melissa says.
“Ryder?” Richard says. “I haven’t seen him in months. Are you sure he helped someone kidnap his own son?”
“Yes.” Melissa says. “That is why I am here in L.A.”
“I don’t understand.” Richard says.
“I’ve been in contact with a woman who knows who kidnapped my baby, but she wouldn’t tell me who. She did tell me that Ryder was back in L.A. and that if I want to find out who took my baby, I need to find him.” She explains.
“And you can trust this woman?” Richard asks.
“I have to. I have no other choice.” Melissa says. “The police in Blackport have reached a dead end.”
“So what can I do to help you?” Richard asks.
“Well, first off, and I hate to ask, but I need a place to stay.” Melissa says.
“Of course.” Richard says. He immediately takes out his key ring from his pocket and removes a key. “This is a key to my apartment. Randy is there, but we have a third bedroom and you are welcome to stay with us, as long as you like.”
“Thank you, Richard.” Melissa says. She takes the key from him. “I appreciate this very much.”
“Of course. I am so sorry to hear about your baby.” He says. “I have some work to finish up here, so you are more than welcome to go over to the apartment and make yourself at home.”
“Randy won’t mind?” Melissa asks.
“I doubt Randy is even home on a Saturday night.” He says.
Across town at the Dove’s apartment, Randy is lying naked in his bed. “I still can’t believe they haven’t figured it out.” Randy says. “I mean, Jason must be a complete idiot to have thought you were really pregnant all those months.”
“What can I say…” Amanda Winters says as she enters from the bathroom, “I am just that good.”
“You can say that again.” Randy says. Amanda climbs on top of him and begins to kiss him. “You never did explain to me where you got that kid from that you are passing off as your and Jason’s son.” Randy says, pulling away.
“It’s not important.” Amanda says. “All that matters is that Jason thinks that the brat is his. He will never divorce me now.”
“Not yet anyway.” Randy says.
“Are you still serious about marrying me?” Amanda says.
“Completely.” Randy says. “And you better believe that I will give you a bigger ring than this.” He holds up Amanda’s hand with the diamond engagement ring that Jason gave her. “I’ll even use Jason’s money to buy it for you.” He laughs.
“I hate this thing.” She says, taking the ring off and putting it on a bedside table. They begin to kiss again.
In the lounge of his Los Angeles hotel, Michael Mustard is reading a newspaper. He turns to the society page and sees an article announcing the up-coming christening of Kendal and Reynard Winters’ grandson.
“See something interesting, gramps?” A male voice says to him. Mustard looks up from the paper to see Ryder Turchese.
“Great Scott.” Mustard says. He quickly stands up and tosses the paper into the chair. “What are you doing here?” He asks Ryder.
“I could ask you the same thing, Colonel.” Ryder says. Mustard sees Elizabeth Canary coming out of the hotel’s restaurant.
“We can’t be seen together.” Mustard says.
“But we have a lot of catching up to do.” Ryder says.
“Room 1476.” Mustard says. “Ten minutes.” Mustard quickly leaves the lounge, narrowly avoiding Mrs. Canary. Ryder picks up the paper and sees the article about the Winters’ grandchild’s christening.
“Friday.” Ryder says. He folds up the paper and quickly heads toward the elevators.
Across town, Melissa Mustard struggles to carry her luggage down a hallway of Dr. Dove’s apartment building. Inside the apartment, Randy Dove is in the shower and Amanda is in the bedroom talking on her cell phone. “I told you, I am leaving here in a few minutes, I will be home soon.” She hangs up the cell phone and goes to the bathroom door. “Baby, I have to go. Jason is worrying me to death. I will call you tomorrow.” She shouts.
“Alright, drive carefully.” Randy shouts over the sound of the shower. Amanda grabs her coat and goes down the hall to the living room. Outside the apartment, Melissa arrives at a door and takes out the key Dr. Dove gave her. Melissa puts the key in the lock and turns it just as Amanda opens the door.
“Oh.” Melissa says, shocked when the door opens. “Hi.” She smiles.
“Hi.” Amanda says.
“I think I have the wrong apartment.” Melissa says, looking at the number on the door.
“Well, that depends.” Amanda says, glancing back at the bathroom, where Randy is showering.
“Depends on what?” Melissa asks.
“On who you are looking for.” Amanda smiles.
“Oh.” Melissa laughs nervously. “A friend of mine gave me a key to his apartment and told me I could stay in his spare room.”
“Oh yeah? Sounds like a nice friend.” Amanda says.
“Well, he’s not really a friend, more like a colleague.” Melissa says. Amanda nods.
“Oh.” She says.
“Is this Dr. Dove’s apartment?” Melissa asks.
“Oh you’re a friend of Richard’s.” Amanda says, relieved.
“Yes.” Melissa says. “And he said I could stay here for a few days.”
“Richard is so obliging isn’t he?” Amanda says. “Always there to lend a hand.”
“Yeah.” Melissa says. “These are really heavy.” She says, referring to her bags. “Can I come in?”
“Oh, of course.” Amanda smiles. “Here, let me help you.” She takes one of Melissa’s bags from her. Melissa enters the apartment, as Randy turns of the shower.
“My name is Melissa Mustard.” Melissa says.
“Great.” Amanda says, putting the bag on the floor.
“I beg your pardon.” Melissa says.
“I mean, it’s great to meet you.” Amanda says. “I am Amanda. I am a friend of Randy.”
“Oh.” Melissa says. “Oh! I’m not interrupting, am I?” She asks.
“No, I was actually just leaving.” Amanda says.
“Is Randy here?” Melissa asks.
“He’s in there, taking a shower.” Amanda points toward the bathroom.
“Oh okay. Great.” Melissa says. “Well thanks for helping me with my bags.”
“No problem.” Amanda says. “I better be going.”
“It was nice to meet you.” Melissa smiles.
“Right. You too.” Amanda says, just as Randy comes out of the bathroom in a towel. “Uh, Randy.” Amanda calls to him. “Seems you have company.” Randy comes into the living room and sees Melissa.
“Melissa?” Randy says. “Hey!”
“Hi!” Melissa says excitedly.
“What are you doing in L.A.?” He asks as they embrace. Amanda seethes with jealousy.
“It’s a long story, but your dad said I could stay here for a few days.” She tells him. She looks at Amanda, then back at Randy. “I hope that’s ok with you.”
“Sure it is!” Randy says. “Did you meet Amanda?”
“Yes, we’ve just met.” Amanda says.
“I haven’t seen Melissa in a long time.” Randy says. “She worked at the hospital with my dad. But left to have a baby. Where is the baby?” He asks.
“I will tell you all about it, later.” Melissa says.
“I guess you two have a lot to get talk about.” Amanda says. “Randy, will you walk me out?”
“Sure.” Randy says. “I will be right back.” Amanda opens the door and Randy hurries to catch up to her. He closes the door behind them.
“She’s a friend of your father’s?” Amanda asks Randy, right outside the door to the apartment.
“Yeah. They worked at the hospital together for a few years.” He tells her.
“And she’s a friend of yours?” Amanda asks.
“What?” Randy asks. Then he realizes Amanda is jealous. “Oh.” He smiles. “It’s nothing like that.”
“Well I know how you like redheads.” She smiles. Randy pulls her close to him.
“There is only one redhead that I like.” He says. They kiss. Down the hall, around a corner, the Private Detective Jason hired to follow Amanda is secretly taking photos of the couple. Amanda pulls away from the kiss and turns to leave.
“Hey.” Randy calls to her. “I love you.” Amanda turns.
“Do me a favor.” Amanda says. “Put some clothes on.” Randy looks down and realizes he is only wearing a bath towel.
“Oh jeeze.” He says. He quickly goes back inside the apartment.
“Gotcha.” The P.I. whispers as Amanda gets into an elevator.
At Kevin’s apartment in Hollywood, Ginger has finished her bath and slips on a robe. She comes out of the bathroom and can hear Kevin’s cell phone ringing. “Aren’t you going to answer that?” She goes into the bed room. The cell phone keeps ringing, as Ginger realizes that Kevin isn’t in there. “Kevin?” She goes into the living room, but gets no answer. The cell phone keeps ringing, so she goes over to it and looks at the display. “Elizabeth Canary.” Ginger reads. The phone stops ringing and Ginger takes a towel and begins to dry her hair when she sees the living room is in shambles, as though there was a struggle. She then notices drops of blood on the floor near the couch. “Kevin?” She calls out again. “Are you here?” She sees that the front door is open and that the drops of blood lead out into the hallway. “Kevin?” Ginger calls out into the quiet hallway, her voice echoing. “Where are you?”
