Beatrice
Mellon was born in Paris France. By the time she was 10, she was singing
in the local church choir. Her choir director heard Beatrice practicing one day
and
could hardly believe his ears. Before she knew what was happening, young Beatrice
was signing a recording contract. By the time she reached young adulthood,
Beatrice had 5 gold records. She was the fastest selling Opera singer in Europe.
Her
voice and heart touched the nation. Crowds, thousands strong, gathered to hear
Beatrice sing. Fame and fortune, however, mean very little to the star and she
donates all proceeds of her concerts to help sick children. Unfortunately, she,
herself, has been diagnosed with an incurable illness. Her lifetime's work attracted
the attention of the Queen who decided to bestow upon her the title of Dame at
a grand ceremony in her honor. The ceremony was postponed due to the murder
of Hugh Black.
